Super Tut Adult Costume – Tutankhamen Costume

Of course, the Super Tut Adult Costume is based on the sort of gear that the young king Tutankhamen might have worn all those years ago. There have been a few modern adaptions of course to make it more contemporary but anyone that sees the impressive headpiece will know exactly who you have come as, and probably wished they’d thought of the costume idea too.

So what do you get with the costume, well, it comes with the white tunic. All Egyptian and Pharaoh costumes seem to have this tunic as the base item. It either comes in white or black and the length may vary. This particular one is white. It is sleeveless and ankle length. After that you simply add the Egyptian style embellishments to give it that pharaoh look.

The accessories include a collar and belt with gold colored accents. There are also arm cuffs of gold too. The most important part of the costume of course is the headpiece that is adapted from the death mask that was found in the Pharaoh’s sarcophagus. This death mask was actually made of gold with a pattern of blue and gold stripes. Unfortunately this headpiece is not made of gold but fabric. It has the distinctive pattern that is found in Tutenkharmun’s death mask, with gold, blue and black horizontal stripes.

When Tutenkharmun’s tomb was discovered in 1922, it sparked interest in Ancient Egypt by the modern world. The Pharaohs and the way of live in those long gone times had been largely forgotten. With the discovery of the tomb and the fact that it was largely intact there was a resurgence of interest in this ancient civilization.

Due to the fact that the tomb hadn’t been robbed or ransacked, many prized  artifacts, not least the mummy of the young Pharaoh and his death mask, were recovered and built up a picture of how Ancient Egyptian society lived. Much of the knowledge gained from this find influences how the modern world perceives Ancient Egypt and how they lived, particularly popular culture like movies and TV series.
